Learn More About Our Youth Advocacy Program

There's nothing more rewarding than seeing a child conquer challenges and build new skills. But without reliable role models, those moments can be fleeting. At Advocates USA, we want to help children in underserved communities discover the path to success. Our mentors provide everything from educational, career, and life skills support. Through our tireless efforts, we aim to help young people think more broadly about their future.

The Gathering

We stay focused on helping socially and economically disadvantaged youth year-round, but our primary fundraising event is our Gatherings. This year we will change from the bi-annual event to a single weekend event which will include a full day of Teen Summit workshops. The golf tournament, awards ceremony and entertainment will conclude the weekend of activities. We work with both our own mentees and children from other organizations. Throughout the event, about 35 members speak, giving brief summaries of their background, education, and career.

Our mentors cover a wide range of important topics, including dream building, entrepreneurship, life skills, financial literacy, domestic violence and bullying. We also discuss crucial educational subjects such as literacy, STEM (science, technology, engineering, and math) programs, and scholarship assistance.

While our gatherings are designed to provide support for young people in need, they're also incredibly beneficial for our members. Each event also acts as a networking opportunity, as our members include industry leaders and highly skilled professionals. We're currently planning for our 26th Gathering - Teen Summit Workshop in October of 2017.

Golf Tournament

In order to keep our doors open, we organize a charity golf tournament each year. Our tournament is an exciting weekend event, starting with Teen Summit Workshop for attending youth organizations and ending with an award ceremony and entertainment for our members. Youth ages 13 and up are also welcome to take part in our tournament.
